Unauthorized entry is a more serious form of trespassing, because the given area trespassed is generally marked as “Authorized Entry Only” and more security measures have been taken to keep unauthorized people out of the area.
Most authorized only areas exist to protect special property or equipment, for safety reasons, for fire safety reasons, or for security reasons. All unauthorized entries must be reported by an incident report. Follow these procedures:
1) Ensure the person leaves the area. It may be necessary to call the police or back up personnel.
2) Identify the person and document it in the report. If the person flees, then get a good description.
3) Document if any property was damaged or stolen. Include other observations that may be useful.
